Kalo Toiletries

Like most larger silversmiths of the era, the Kalo Shop sold a wide variety of personal items for both home and office use.

However, while the Kalo Shop made an abundance of handwrought silver objects for the dining room and kitchen, we really haven't seen very many Kalo items for the dressing room.  This is odd, because it would seem that such items would make fine personal gifts, and that wealthy customers would buy such pieces for their own daily use.

The brush, mirror, and powder jar shown here are all nicely made objects with fine applied monograms.  They are worn from years of use.  Perhaps one reason few other pieces have survived is that they simply wore out and were cast aside or discarded, without regard to their historic or esthetic value.
